We are experiencing a cool 2023 spring in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We still have a few weeks to go until a typical peony season begins here in early May.
We'll see how this plays out - a warm streak of just a few days here and there can change everything in a hurry. While a cool, wet peony season has it's challenges, I prefer it to the extreme warmth we've also experienced in previous years - one year the bloom peaked May 5th, when it is typically after May 20th. We've had a couple of years when the peonies were delayed beyond a couple of weeks.
One thing for sure - our season can have a 30 day swing from year to year. It'll happen as it does.
Our peony farm will be open for bloom season Tuesdays through Saturdays in May and early/mid June. We will expand the open dates further into June if warranted. We will be closed Sundays and Mondays. We'll have potted peonies and cut peony flowers for sale.
While the farm fields are currently closed to visitors, we are open on Saturdays in April 2023 from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM if you want to buy potted peonies. We have 150 varieties of peonies in containers this season.
