Perhaps one of the best fragrances in a peony, Cheddar Surprise (R.Klehm) peonies are also very beautiful. The semi-double to double flowers open to pure white petals, from a blush bud. At first opening, you think it will be a blush flower and are surprised to see the crisp white petals within a day or so. The layers of petals are filled with golden stamens, thus giving its name. A remarkably sturdy peony plant that never needs staking, it has striking, dark green leaves. Grows 30" - 34" tall (in Oregon it is 34" tall). Excellent peony for cut flowers; and, it is a prolific bloomer. Some side buds, too!
